Flicking through the photos from when Mark was home on
R&R are a sure way of putting a smile on my face and these collection of pictures
snapped up just a few hours before we headed to the airport are some of my
favourite.
With walking comes running and with running comes
chasing. One of Alby’s favourite games
involved being chased up and down the hallway.
For some reason, I’m not entirely sure whether it comes from a deep
rooted memory from my own childhood or what, but whenever this game starts I
find myself turning into the Giant from Jack and Beanstalk as I stomp after my squealing
son. As he hears the words he will look
over his shoulders to see where I am, grin, scream and then run off as fast as
he can until I swoop him up into a cuddle.
Obviously this was a game that had to be shared with daddy
and I confess I’m not totally sure which has more fun.
In these pictures Mark is chasing Alby down the long
corridor in the hotel we stayed at the night he went back to Afghanistan. The two of them went up and down it as I
perched at one hand clicking away in an effort to get something better than two
blurred shapes against a generic hotel background. My efforts, clearly, weren’t hugely
successful but I love these images, smeared shots and all.
