Crickey – four days away from here and it feels like a
lifetime. I’m sorry to report that my
absence hasn’t been the result of high excitement, amazing stories or dramatic
happenings with Team Beebe. Rather the
much more mundane and slightly grounding fact that when I try to add something
new to life it quickly throws other things out of sync and sadly, on this
occasion, the Blog got put to the side.
On Saturday I had a work event in the Wirral which meant
that Alby was being left in the loving care of Shannon, one of his nursery
workers, from 8am until 6pm. On the
practical side this meant cleaning the house from top to bottom, sorting out a
packed lunch and dinner for Alby and ensuring plenty of food options for the
babysitter. There was also a little bit
of mental preparation needed as this was the first time I’ve left him for a
prolonged period with anyone other than his grandparents but as Alby sees
Shannon almost every day and absolutely adores her my thoughts were focused
much more on trying to prove my housekeeping skills.
When Shannon arrived it
took Alby a moment to register who was at the door but his face went very
quickly from shock to happiness and he grabbed her hand, led her into the
living room and pushed a Thomas the Tank Engine into his hand. When I came home Alby gave me a smile but quickly
returned to Shannon’s lap to watch the end of
Driver Dan on CBBC. He was so cute and
comfortable with her that it gave me great heart to think that he will probably
be just the same with Mark once he is home for a little while. Admittedly, it also made me think that I
could never have a nanny but lets not go dwelling on what an insecure mother I
am for my sons love!
When Mark came back for his little holiday recently I was
expecting Alby to be a bit stand off-ish for the first few days. My concerns in that regard were totally
unfounded. However, he wasn’t totally
happy to totally chill out with daddy when I was in the room. With his nursery staff he couldn’t care less
if I’m around or not and give it a month after Mark’s home and I’m sure I’ll be
saying the same.
From a full day out on Saturday to friends over for
afternoon tea on Sunday to a house full of dogs today as I help out a neighbour
it’s probably no wonder things have gone a little bit out of sync in recent
days. This Friday we head South again
for the first time in a month, so I’m not totally sure we’ll get back on sync
this week but I’ve already decided that if anything needs to be put to the side
it can be the washing up rather than the blog!
I did miss you, so glad you are back, it is a great start to the day. xx
